About Peter Ring Sr
Peter Ring is a highly acclaimed artist who specializes in creating "photo realistic" paintings of commercial and military aircraft. Using primarily acrylics, he also dabbles in pencil drawings. Peter is deeply passionate about aviation and uses his art to convey its excitement and showcase airplanes up close and from the best angles. His impressive works have been exhibited at various events, including Cincinnati Milacron in Worcester, MA (1976), the New England Airliner Exposition in Boston, MA (1992), the Gorman Gallery at the EAA Air Adventure Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin (1993-1994), and Horizons of Flight Exhibition & Competition at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport (1994), among others. In 2010, his painting titled "When I Grow Up" was displayed at the Intrepid Air, Sea, and Space Museum in NY, NY as part of the "Portraits in Flight" show, celebrating 100 years of American Naval Aviation (1911-2011).
Peter was a member of several prestigious organizations, such as the American Society of Aviation Artists (ASAA), the Los Angeles Society of Illustrators, and the Air Force Art Program. He has generously donated many of his artworks to The Air Force Art Program, including Night Moves, Spirits Up Lifted, When Stars Gather, F-35 Thunderbirds, Westover Salute, XB-70, and Going Home. Since 1998, he has also been the artist for Westover Air Base in Chicopee, MA, creating posters and brochure covers for their bi-annual air show. In 1998, Private Pilot magazine published a special edition entitled "Aviation Art Gallery," where Peter was listed in the Who's Who in aviation art. His work has also been featured in various publications such as Code One magazine, The Patriot, and many local newspapers.
Apart from his artistic pursuits, Peter is also involved in charitable work. He has donated his paintings to various organizations such as the Corporate Angel Network (CAN), which provides mercy flights on corporate aircraft for cancer patients, and Project New Hope (2012), which provides a comprehensive range of professional services to combat veterans, their families, and survivors. In 1996, he donated his painting "Touch Down," which depicts a C-5 Galaxy Landing in a thunderstorm, to Westover Air Base.
